How to make Eid 2021 extra special

05/10/2021 - 3 minute read

The only thing more exciting than that first cup of coffee on Eid morning is the Eidiya. Children and adults alike look forward to this Eid tradition every year, and for some people, it’s the highlight of the occasion. So, what is it exactly?

Eidiya technically means ‘tiny celebration’. It’s a small gift (usually monetary) given to loved ones or even strangers to mark the occasion. Traditionally, Eidiyas were only given to children, but over the past few decades, they’ve also been exchanged between adults as a gesture of appreciation. And let’s be honest, giving an envelope of cash can be less personal than other gifts. Finding the perfect Eidiya can be a little challenging - and that’s where we come in 😎.

Let’s make sure that the Eidiya you give in 2021 makes up for last year’s… bleak… festivities. Here are a few ideas to get your creative juices flowing:

P.S. If you get Beema Pay-per-kilometer car insurance, you can use the cashback you earn at the end of the year for your Eidiyas, just saying 😉 .

Give the gift of relaxation 💆🏻‍♂️

Ramadan is a time of spiritual cleanse – so what better way to top it off than by giving your body the rest it deserves. As Eid knocks on the door, give a loved one the gift of relaxation. It’s as simple as this:

  • Book them an appointment at your local spa
  • Prepare a warm, home cooked meal of their favorite dish
  • Take them to a yoga class
  • Book them a sunrise parachute ride

Get them Eid ready 👗

An important part of Eid customs is making sure you’re at you’re very best, which also includes how you present yourself when you welcome the occasion. So, for this year’s Eidiya, why don’t you help a loved one get Eid ready:

  • Pamper your daughter with a nail appointment
  • Book your friend a facial, so they’re fresh for Eid morning
  • Surprise your sibling with a shopping date for their Eid clothes
  • Buy them a bottle of their favorite Oud

Make distances smaller in the time of social distancing 🧡

During Eid, we’re also encouraged to think about those who are less fortunate than we are, and no act of kindness is too big or too small. Make someone’s day by giving back to those in need:

  • Draw a smile on a stranger’s face. Many expats in the UAE are spending the occasion away from their families this year. Help bridge that gap, even just a little bit, by buying international minutes for a stranger to reconnect them with loved ones back home
  • Make a donation in your loved one’s name to a cause they’re passionate about

Eid Mubarak from the Beema family to yours ✨
